The Revue Cinema is celebrating the 200th anniversary of Ada’s birth on Sunday, Dec. 6, from  3:30 p.m. with the screening of a documentary about her, To Dream Tomorrow produced by Flare Productions.

These screenings are fundraisers for Back Lane Studios, a local not-for-profit that’s developing a program, called CityShorts,  for students to make short documentary films in their neighbourhoods for screening at The Revue. An expert panel will answer any questions:  Imogen Coe, professor and dean at Ryerson’s Faculty of Science; Alex Ferworn, professor and associate chair of Ryerson’s Department of Computer Science; and  Allan Olley, who earned his PhD at the U of T’s Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology. Introduced by Janice Kulyk Keefer, award-winning novelist, poet and reviewer, and Guelph University Professor Emerita, who has taught courses on Virginia Woolf and other British modernists.

February 2016

Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, 3:30 p.m. Hedy Lamarr, actor and inventor. Documentary: Calling Hedy Lamarr, Revue Cinema, Roncesvalles, Toronto.

March 2016

Sunday, March 20, 2016, 3:30 p.m. Hildegard of Bingen, 12th century nun and polymath. Documentary: In the Symphony of the World, Revue Cinema, Roncesvalles, Toronto. With performances of Hildegard’s compositions by Schola Magdalena. (This event, scheduled to celebrate the vernal equinox, is back by popular demand.)
